What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Kids emphasises good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the programme can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

At Stonehenge CrossFit, we run two core CrossFit Kids classes – CrossFit Kids (ages 5-12 approximately), and CrossFit Pre Teens (ages 10-14 approximately). Entry to the class will be based upon individual skill, athleticism and maturity as well as age to ensure each child gets the most out of their CrossFit experience.

Kids classes run on Wednesdays at 16.00 during term time and last 45 minutes. These classes are based on fun, functional movements that give children a safe and enjoyable entrance into fitness. We use games and exercises to introduce core movement patterns, gymnastics and the foundations of strength development.

The Pre Teens classes will run on Wednesdays at 1645 duiring term time and also last for 45 minutes. These classes will start to look like an adults CrossFit class once we have established strong, safe mechanics to enable each class member to take on more advanced movement and strength development.

All children are welcome, whether they have an experienced sporting background or just want to try something new! Our team of fully-qualified, experienced and insured coaches will work with each individual child to develop and improve their general physical fitness, encourage team work and promote a positive attitude to health and wellbeing.
