Why did you first go to Stonehenge CrossFit?

I started CrossFit because I wanted to become more confident within myself, and also wanted a new hobby, a fitness goal and something I could work towards for myself rather than just feeling like a mum.

What was the hardest part?

I found the Olympic lifting hard to get used to as I had no idea what It was or what CrossFit involved (I'd never even heard of it) before my brother suggested I should do a taster session. I also found the more basic side of fitness hard to get use to, as I’d never had a gym membership or even been for a run.

Why do you still go to Stonehenge?

It’s a great stress release for me from other things going on in my life, such as being at university and being a single mum. It's the only time I get to just focus on me. I like how much fitter I am now and the friends I’ve made.

What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

Finally being able to snatch 45kg. Also having the confidence to compete alongside people who have become great friends. (I never thought I would be anywhere near good enough to be able to compete)

What would you say to anyone thinking about trying Stonehenge CrossFit?

Try it. I never thought I would enjoy lifting weights and always thought it was a much more masculine thing (I was very wrong). It’s a great way to get a good understanding of fitness, especially because there is always a coach around who is willing to help. Don’t ever think you’re not good enough or not ready, I didn't even know what a barbell was two years ago.
