Stonehenge CrossFit Member Spotlight – Vanessa Lucas

Why did you start at Stonehenge CrossFit?

I started CrossFit in general after I finished rehabilitation from snapping my ACL ligament and dislocating my knee. I needed and wanted to be fit again and joining CrossFit helped. I had been to Stonehenge CrossFit a few times before I joined and I loved the atmosphere. The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. 

Why do you still go?

I still go because I always see improvements week after week. I always want to be better than the day before. My biggest competition is myself. I’m always good at putting myself down and thinking I’ll never be good enough. I want to show myself that I am and I can be. I want to keep getting strong, keep getting fit and to keep breaking my PBs.

What has been your best achievement since starting?

My biggest achievement is getting double unders and being able to deadlift and squat more then my bodyweight.

What would you say to anyone wanting to try Stonehenge CrossFit?

Don't always believe what everyone says about CrossFit. If you want to become fit and strong, learn how to eat correctly and meet amazing people then CrossFit is the place to be!! Stonehenge is the best place to be if you want to surround yourself with positive, happy people. There are always people there to help you whether you've been doing it for two years or a few months... People will always cheer you on no matter your ability and never put you down.
